What is trailer cable?
Trailer cable is multi-conductor cord for trailer wiring: tinned Class K copper inside an Arctic Ultraflex Blue TPE jacket, with DOT standard conductor colors. Polar Wire stocks it as twin (18 to 10 AWG) and as 4 and 7 conductor. Rated 600 V, −55°C to 105°C (−67°F to 221°F). Used for trailer wiring, DC power, vehicle upfitting, solar trackers, and robotics.
What is tinned trailer wire?
Tinned trailer wire is trailer cable with tinned Class K copper under the Arctic Ultraflex Blue TPE jacket. Tinning is the corrosion layer. One stocked SKU is bare: AUF-TC1014-7. The rest of the line is tinned.
Do you have 5 conductor or 7 conductor trailer wire?
7 conductor, yes. 5 conductor, no. Polar Wire stocks twin (2 conductor), 4 conductor, and 7 conductor. Twin: gray jacket, 18 to 10 AWG. Multi-conductor: blue jacket, 10 to 14 AWG. Stocked 7-conductor SKUs are AUF-TC1012-7, AUF-TC101214-7, AUF-TC1014-7, and AUF-TC1214-7. AUF-TC144 is the 4 conductor.
Can I buy trailer cable in bulk?
Yes. Trailer cable is sold by the foot on the online store. For a reel, send the size, the conductor count, and the length and we will quote it.
How much does trailer cable cost?
Typical price on the online store is $0.66 to $5 per foot. 18/2 twin sits near $0.66. 7-conductor sits near $5. Sold by the foot. See the store for today's price: Trailer cable.
What is the temperature range and voltage rating?
600 V. Temperature: −55°C to 105°C (−67°F to 221°F). That is the Arctic Ultraflex Blue TPE jacket range, the same compound used on the single conductor wire.
Is Polar Wire Trailer Cable resistant to environmental and chemical exposure?
Yes. The Arctic Ultraflex Blue TPE jacket resists water, salt, oil, gasoline, acids, chemicals, sunlight, and abrasion. Twin cable uses a gray jacket. Multi-conductor uses a blue jacket.
What constructions and sizes are stocked?
Twin: gray jacket, red and black tinned conductors, 18, 16, 14, 12, and 10 AWG.
Multi-conductor: blue jacket, 4 and 7 conductor, 10 to 14 AWG. Stocked SKUs are AUF-TC1012-7, AUF-TC101214-7, AUF-TC1014-7 (bare copper), AUF-TC1214-7, and AUF-TC144.
Sold by the foot.
What is "Class K 100% Copper Stranding" and why is it used in your wire?
100% copper, not copper-clad. On this cable the copper is tinned, except AUF-TC1014-7, which is bare copper. Class K uses 30 AWG strands bunched into each size. Strand counts by size are in the Class K stranding comparison chart.
What are the outer diameter specifications?
Nominal OD is on the spec table. AUF-TC144 is 0.57". AUF-TC1012-7 is 0.66". AUF-TC1014-7 is 0.62" / 0.59". Call us for AUF-TC1214-7.
