Frequently asked questions
Do you make PV wire?
Yes. 10 AWG black PVX is stocked by the foot as PVX1019. Single layer XLPE, 100% copper, rated 194°F (90°C) wet or dry, VW-1 and FV-2, suitable for direct burial. Other gauges and colors are a private label run from 10,000 ft. See photovoltaic wire.
What wire runs a solar tracker?
Trailer cable is the multi-conductor answer, and it is listed for solar panel and tracker wiring and renewable energy projects. It is tinned Class K copper under an Arctic Ultraflex Blue TPE jacket at 600 volts, rated -67°F to 221°F (-55°C to 105°C), in 4 and 7 conductor from 10 to 14 AWG, and its printed jacket legend reads Type TC 600V sunlight resistant.
What do you use for battery storage interconnect?
Arctic Superflex Blue for paired DC runs and Arctic Ultraflex Blue for single conductor. The first is listed for wind and solar power systems and uninterrupted power supply systems, the second for inverter, battery and charger cables. Both are 100% copper on Class K fine stranding. Compression lugs and splices are stocked for conductor up to 1000 MCM, rated for 35 kV applications on copper.
Is there a minimum on a special wire run?
Custom colors, print legends and striping are private label, from 10,000 ft. Eight stocked wire lines are on the online store, including 10 AWG black PVX. Assemblies for retail customers carry no minimum.
