Lead times
Three averages taken across real orders: prototyping from stock, full production, and orders under 50 assemblies.
The three averages
- PrototypePrototyping from stock, typically
- 5 to 10 days
- ProductionFull production, typically
- 15 to 30 days
- Small orderUnder 50 assemblies, typically within
- 10 days
Which figure applies depends on whether the wire is already on the shelf. None of these is a commitment.
What sets the date
A stocked jumper, battery, eye-to-eye, or golf cart cable ships on the carrier's schedule. A custom build waits on the wire, the termination, and the paperwork you ask for.
The wire
The biggest variable. Polar Wire manufactures and holds the standard constructions, so an assembly in one of them typically starts the same week. A special construction waits on the wire.
The termination
A stocked lug on a stocked stud size adds nothing. A non-standard angle, a custom die, or a proprietary crimp profile is tooling work, quoted with its own schedule.
The documentation
Serialized traceability and material certificates run alongside the build. PPAP documentation levels 1 through 5 are a deliverable. Say at quote time whether the program needs one.

Prototyping from stock typically 5 to 10 days. Full production typically 15 to 30 days.
How long does a custom cable assembly take?
Two answers, and the wire decides which one applies. Built from wire already in stock, a prototype run typically ships in 5 to 10 days. A full production run typically reaches shipment in 15 to 30 days from order. Both figures are averages taken across real orders rather than commitments, and your quote carries the date that applies to your job.
How fast can I get a prototype?
Where the wire is in stock, prototyping typically ships in as little as 5 to 10 days. That is the fastest path on the board and it is why the stocked wire lines matter: the wire is made in-house and held, so a prototype built in a stocked construction skips the mill entirely. A prototype in a special construction waits on the wire run instead.
How long does a small order take?
Orders under 50 assemblies ship within 10 days on average. Assemblies for retail customers carry no minimum, so a single cable is a legitimate order.
Are these lead times a promise?
No. Every lead time figure here is an average across real orders. If a program needs a committed date, say so at quote time and it is handled as part of the program.
